Research area(s)
The exploitation of the detector at CERN. The development of fast scintillators. Radiation damage effects in glasses, crystals and organic materials. The application of quantum dots to radiation dosimetry. The development and management of grid computing systems and their application to large-scale computational problems Digital Holography (recording and replay).
Research Interests
Virtually everything I have ever done in research has been collaborative, from small teams up to the largest international collaborations such as CMS at the Large Hadron Collider. I am an applied physicist who is interested in contributing to almost any project where my research skills may prove useful. Interdisciplinary research is a particular interest of mine.
My skills include the development of large scale data processing and algorithms optimised for multi-core processors; scintillator and other solid-state radiation sensors, high density and radiation tolerant glasses, conventional and digital in-line holography for metrology; vacuum photodetectors for use in harsh environments; diamond-based sensors for high temperature applications; application of fluorescent materials based on quantum dots.
