Chunjiang Zou, PhD, is a Lecturer (Education) in Civil Engineering at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½, UK. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Monash University, Australia. His research focuses on rock dynamics and advanced rock fracturing technology, with the ultimate goal of developing safe, speedy, low-carbon, and environment-friendly techniques in underground engineering. Zou obtained his PhD in rock mechanics from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and holds a bachelor's and a master's degree in geological engineering from Nanjing University which has the best earth science-related subjects in China. 

Zou's research interests include rock mechanics and dynamics, permeability and enhancement in rocks, microwave-assisted rock fracturing, fast and low-cost rock excavation technology, and AI-based non-destructive testing technology. Zou is an active young researcher and promoter of theoretical and experimental research on rock dynamics and dynamic fracture mechanics. He has published over 30 high-level papers in renowned journals. Zou's papers have gained wide attention and citations from peer experts with total citations of over 600. Two of them about dynamic fracturing in rocks were cited over 100 times. He has theoretically explained 'why tensile cracks are suppressed under dynamic loading' and established the micro-element analysis (MEA) method, a new theoretical contribution to rock dynamics and fracturing research. He has also expanded the concept of the brittleness index to the dynamic regime and proposed the dynamic brittleness concept in rock mechanics for the first time.
