Summary
Susan Easton is an Emeritus Professor of Law. She has taught and published in both sociology and law and has previously lectured at Sussex and Sheffield University and taught in UK prisons. She is the author of several books including Silence and Confessions (2014), Prisoners’ Rights: Principles and Practice (2011), The Politics of the Prison and the Prisoner (2018) as well as numerous articles in journals and edited collections and is co-author with Christine Piper of Sentencing and Punishment: the quest for justice (2016, fourth edition). Susan Easton is also the founding editor of the International Journal of Discrimination and the Law and a barrister. She is currently researching in the areas of prisoners’ rights and citizenship and the experience of imprisonment.
