Summary
Nigel stared his career as a nurse in the late 1980's and specialised in cardiac nursing. He has held NHS clinical leadership positions both in acute and primary care trusts where he led multi-professional developments in infection prevention and control, patient safety and clinical education. Earlier in his career he was a lecturer practitioner and then senior lecturer in nursing. He was previously professor of healthcare leadership and workforce development at Bedfordshire university and led the launch of new nursing programmes at the University of East London before joining Brunel in September 2021.
His teaching and research interests include healthcare leadership and workforce development, interprofessional education and nursing policy and practice.

Responsibility
Nigel provides leadership for the development of Interprofessional Learning within the College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences to help promote collaboration and partnership across professions and embed IPL across the curriculum.
He works will colleagues to establish and develop new IPL activities and evaluate their effectiveness, and is also is leading an IPL staff development and training programme for colleagues.
Brunel prepares and develops professionals across a wide range of health and social care disciplines including Biomedical Science, Environmental Science, Exercise Science, Global Public Health, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Sports Health, and from 2022 Medicine, providing a rich backdrop for interprofessional learning at under and post-graduate level.
