Miss Kavita Gadar
PhD Student

Research area(s)

Kavita's research aims to use lipidomics, genomics and in vivo modelling to gain a fundamental insight into the biological phenomena of how Acinetobacter baumannii can evolve resistance to the last resort antibiotic, Colistin. Kavita is currently focused on the discovery of novel plant-based compounds for antibiofilm and antimicrobial activity against Acinetobacter baumannii .

Research Interests

  • Understanding the evolutionary trajectories A. baumannii follows when evolving resistance to colistin.
  • Determining the fitness and virulence costs of resistance.
  • Screening and assessment of phytochemicals for antibiofilm and antimicrobial activity.
  • Development and use of in vitro and in vivo infection models.
