Research Interests

One major theme in my work is why people are so concerned about others' lifestyles (e.g., whether they are family oriented, sexually promiscuous, etc.). These concerns seem to be a surprisingly important part of why people are drawn to religion, how people might assess others' trustworthiness, the kinds of stereotypes people have about others, and many of the moral judgments people hold.

An additional line of research is looking at the effects of religious fasting, exploring how and why religious fasting might influence human flourishing and prosocial behaviour.
