Professor Jack Silver

Summary

Professor Silver obtained his Chemistry BSc in 1970 and PhD in 1973, both from the University of London. He held postdoctoral fellowships at Chelsea College (1973-74) and Imperial College London (1974-75), and lectureships in Chemistry at the University of Birmingham (1975-76), the University of the West Indies (1976-77) and the University of Essex (1978-1988). At the latter he was made a Senior Lecturer in 1988 and a Reader in 1992 before moving to the University of Greenwich in 1996, becoming a Professor in the Schools of Chemical and Life Sciences until 2002, when he became a Professor in the School of Science. From 1997-2003 he was Director of the Materials Research Group. In January 2006 Professor Silver joined the Wolfson Centre for Materials processing as Executive Director.
