Christine Piper
Emeritus Professor

Elliott Jaques 005

Summary

My research interests are in child and family law and policy as well as youth justice and sentencing. These overlapping interests are reflected in my books, notably Investing in Children (Willan Publishing, 2008) and Sentencing and Punishment: The Quest for Justice (with S. Easton, OUP, 4th ed 2016). I am on the Editorial Board of the Child and Family Law Quarterly, was a member of the Advisory Group for an EU funded project developing training for gender-related violence, and was involved in pressure to amend the offence of child cruelty. Currently my research interests centre on grandparent full-time carers, the outsourcing of punishment, and aspects of industrial development in the 17th and 18th centuries.
