Knowledge Transfer Partnerships | Brunel Business School

Partner with Brunel Business School (BBS) to have access to funding for up to two-thirds of your research project costs through a Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP).

KTP are the Government's leading programme helping UK businesses of all kinds to access skills and expertise at Universities like Brunel with typical project duration of 1-3 years.

The knowledge sought will be embedded into your company from the knowledge base at Brunel through a R&D project, or projects (at Masters or Post Doctoral level), undertaken by a recently qualified person (known as associate) recruited (on open market with company partner having final say) to specifically work on that project.

Associates are usually employed at the company’s premises and are jointly supervised by company staff and an academic supervisor from Brunel. Academic members of staff provide the equivalent of a half a day to KTP projects usually on the company premises. ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½’s facilities are also available to support the project.

A research collaboration agreement will be agreed between Brunel and the Company prior to the start of the project. The project provides a financial budget for the employment costs of the associate, travel and subsistence, equipment and the consumables pertaining to the project and training for the associate. The University will invoice the company for their contribution to project costs quarterly in arrears.

BBS has been successful in getting regular KTP funding and has recently been awarded a KTP of £540K which will develop innovative business models to strengthen the position of Age UK.
