Dr. Giuseppe Destefanis Wins the Taxonomy Innovation Award for Blockchain Terminology Standardization
Dr. Giuseppe Destefanis (Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science) has been honoured with the Taxonomy Innovation Award, acknowledging his contributions to the field of Blockchain technology. The award is administered by the DLT Science Foundation and has the objective of standardizing terminology in Blockchain white papers.Dr. Destefanis was chosen for this award following a rigorous review process that evaluated his research and expertise in Blockchain technology.The field of Blockchain is expanding rapidly, but it faces challenges due to inconsistent terminology. This creates obstacles for effective communication and collaboration. The Taxonomy Innovation Award aims to resolve this by establishing a standard set of terms and definitions for use in academic research, business applications, and technology development.
The DLT Science Foundation has specified the following responsibilities for the award recipient:
- Development of a Comprehensive Taxonomy Document: Dr. Destefanis is tasked with creating a document that outlines standardized terms and definitions related to Blockchain technology.
- Labelling of Whitepapers related to blockchains: Using the taxonomy, Dr. Destefanis will identify and label terms within selected whitepapers, showcasing how the taxonomy can be practically applied.”
